About Northland
Whangarei sits in the centre of the Northland District soaking up more then 2,000 hours of sunshine a year. It is the warmest city in New Zealand and yet it receives enough rainfall a year to keep the lush, green surroundings attractive and make Northland the Sub-Tropical part of New Zealand.
With Beaches a short 30min drive from the city you cant help being drawn to the transparent water. Whether it be for surfing, fishing, diving or just laying in the sun on the pristine sand on a deserted beach.
Northland has a population of 140,130. And is well known for its food and wine trails. You can easily start your adventure from Auckland and follow the trail to the top of Northland. If wine and food isn’t your style then why not try the Golf Trail. Or if you want to catch up on Northlands history or just experience the hardship that Northland has overcome there is also a Heritage trail. A must see.
